So who am I and why should you care? I’m a writer
living in Evansville, Indiana. For all of you who don’t know, Evansville is located in the Midwest
along the banks of the Ohio
River, and anyone who’s looking for pet mosquitoes
should drop me a line; in this area, we have plenty to spare!
Most of the time, I focus on poetry, but I’ve written fiction
and essays too. Some of my work is serious; some of it is humorous. It all
depends on what my muse is willing to sling my way. (I’m convinced she used to
be a waitress but had a mid-life career change to muse, and that’s why she always
wants me to use food images in my poetry. Since I love food, I gladly oblige.)
My most recent project is the novel I've coauthored with Maryanne
Burkhard Duplissey. We’re very excited about it. To read an excerpt,
click on the Ghost Orchid tab. And after you read the excerpt, I hope you'll contact me with your comments. If you’d like to be notified when Maryanne and I post new excerpts from the
novel, please e-mail me.
On the academic side, I received a B.A.
in English (creative writing emphasis) from the University of Southern Indiana in 2004. I was
awarded poetry scholarships in 2004 and 2007 to attend RopeWalk (a writing
conference held every summer in New Harmony, Indiana).
I’ve also had poems published in several journals, and I’m grateful to the editors of those journals.
Now that you know who I am, I hope you care because I hope
you like reading as much as I do, and I hope you’ll find something here
that you enjoy. And please, by all means, visit as often as you can get your
little fingers to zip across the keys to my cyber home.
